Best Portable Dry Herb Vaporizers Reviewed – The VaporFi Orbit
I have long been a fan of VaporFi and I used a few of their products back when I quit smoking a few years ago. Their Rocket kit was one of the best e-cigs I had ever used. When I first heard that they also made a dry herb vaporizer I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and try it for myself. I must say, I was as impressed with the Orbit as I was with their awesome e-cig, The Rocket.
Let’s take a brief overview before we get into the full review though shall we?
- Small, compact, easy to use
- Sleek, attractive design
- Three temperature settings
- Nice sized herb chamber can hold over a gram of herb
- Intense vapor production
- Clean, pure tasting vapor
- Vapes material thoroughly
- Easy to use, clean and maintain
- Solid construction with interchangeable (replaceable) parts
- Comfortable mouthpiece
- Well priced compared to similar models
- Charges with a regular micro USB
- Needs to be cleaned often (after every session or two)
- Plastic mouthpiece
- Mouthpiece can overheat with extended use (comes with an extension)
As you can see from the overview, there isn’t much for me to complain about with the VaporFi Orbit. It’s an awesome little vaporizer that is not only a pleasure to use, but it also produces surprisingly amazing results.
Although I did list the plastic mouthpiece as a con because I do prefer glass, I must say, I don’t get any of that plastic taste I do with some of the lower quality vapes that also feature a similar design.
The VaporFi Orbit is a high quality weed vaporizer that produces clean and intense vapor easily on par with the best vapes on the market. Although I still do prefer my Ascent, the Orbit produces a slightly hotter vapor which can be a little harder hitting.
Several of my friends actually prefer the hotter vapors produced by models like the Pax or the Orbit to the cool sweet vapor I get from my Ascent or Air, so I know that really is just a matter of personal preference. The look, feel and vapor quality are all quite similar to the beloved Pax by Ploom, but it’s only about half the price!
It is a great overall design and is remarkably easy to use. The mouthpiece lifts open to reveal a nice sized stainless steel heating chamber which is well ventilated and allows for more than enough airflow to really surround your herb with heat every time you puff on it.
I can easily pack a full gram in the chamber for longer sessions, or for smaller ones, I use sometimes as little as a 0.1 or a 0.2/gram. Just make sure for the smaller sessions, that you pack the herb pretty well at the bottom of the chamber for best results.
I did notice that the standard mouthpiece is a little short and because the chamber is at the top of the unit, it does tend to get pretty hot after extended use.
The problem is easily solved though because they also include a few very nice mouthpiece extenders (as seen on the right) which allows for enough space between your lips and the chamber to cool the vapor slightly and allows for long extended sessions without ever burning your lips.
The Orbit features three preset temperature settings which are color coded and range from 360-420 degrees. Press the button five times in rapid succession to turn the unit on, and then hold the same button down for 5 seconds to switch between settings. Using it couldn’t be any easier. For me, I find I get the best results at the hottest temperature or 420 degrees.
I’ve gotten a little spoiled I guess with my Ascent, and I really do prefer the glass on glass vapor path that the Ascent offers, but based on price, design and overall function, I would definitely recommend the Orbit particularly to anyone who is on a tighter budget. The Orbit is less than half the price of the Ascent, Pax, Solo or Air but the vapor quality really is pretty close.
Although The Orbit isn’t my current favorite vaporizer and if budget isn’t an issue, I would recommend The IQ, Ascent, or even the Pax 3, but for someone looking to get a quality vape that works as desired and produces some great tasting, high volume, high intensity vapor, definitely take a closer look.
Also, if you are someone who prefers hotter, more intense vapor the Orbit will produce the results you are looking for and will have you off in another world within minutes of turning it on…bud not included lol.
I included the Orbit on this list because compared to other vapes in this price range, The Orbit is by far the best performer I’ve tried. It doesn’t burn my herb unless I really leave it in too long and then it only happens rarely. Most of the other vapes in this price range burn my material almost every time.
Regardless of what may read a bit like a mixed review, I do consider the Orbit from VaporFi to be among the best portable vaporizers currently on the market. To me, it easily holds it’s place in the top 10 portable vapes available, and certainly the best in it’s price range.
If you are looking for a good vape that won’t break the bank but will leave you smiling with satisfaction nonetheless, check it out. There is no question that it is worth every penny. Enjoy!
