Best Portable Concentrate Vaporizers Reviewed -The Pulsar APX Wax
The new APX Wax is the latest introduction by Pulsar Vaporizers who really impressed me earlier this year with their APX portable dry herb vaporizer. The APX dry herb vape is awesome and, as far as I’m concerned, still the best portable vaporizer under $100.00.
The APX Wax is just as impressive and equally well priced. Let’s just take a quick overview once again before we get into the review itself, shall we?
- Ultra compact and pocketable (entire unit is under 4 inches in height)

- Triple quartz coil atomizer
- Borosilicate glass mouthpiece
- Lasts 1.5-2 hours of use per charge

- Can burn material if not careful
I have really got to hand it to the folks over at Pulsar Vaporizers on this one, they have done it again with this new APX Wax!
Not only have they created a fantastic looking, very pocketable wax vaporizer that is one of the best performing concentrate vaporizers I have tried, but they’ve also once again, managed to do it for under $100.00 retail.
After enjoying the APX dry herb vape they introduced earlier this year, I was very excited to get my hands on the wax version. When I did receive it, the first thing that struck me was the size of the device itself.
The APX Wax is the smallest vaporizer I’ve ever had my hands on. It’s under 4 inches in height, less than 2 inches in width and just 1 inch thick. It truly is tiny, but that in no way impedes it’s awesome performance.
I love the way it fits in my hand while in use, it virtually disappears. More importantly, I also love how responsive and quick heating it is. I only need to hold down the firing button for 4-5 seconds and it’s ready to go.
The APX Wax features a triple quartz coil atomizer which is covered by a Borosilicate glass vapor chamber and mouthpiece. The triple quartz coils heat up instantly and evenly distribute the heat directly under your material.
Using the APX Wax is as easy as it gets. All you need to do is pop off the mouthpiece which is lightly pressure-fitted on, using the included dabbing tool drop on a piece of hash, wax, shatter etc. directly onto the coils, replace the top and you’re ready to vape! Hold down the firing button for a few seconds, you’ll notice the coils brighten up, let go and take a draw.
The shape of the mouthpiece retains any vapor yet to be inhaled and is far enough away from the coil to remain cool while in use.
With just 5 seconds of firing it, the coils are hot enough and retain enough heat to produce good vapor for 20-30 seconds. You really don’t need to hold the button longer than that. I find any longer will just start to burn the material.
Pulsar Vaporizers includes everything you need in the box including the dabbing tool and even a little container to hold some material.
Together the vaporizer and the container fit nicely in any pocket and give you everything you’ll need for quick sessions or even single hits when you’re on the go.
I’m really enjoying having it with me on my busiest days because I can do a few very good hits in a minute or less and have it back in my pocket and be back to work in no time.
I’ve always traditionally been more of a dry herb guy but I’m really starting to enjoy having the available option of increased medication and potency in so much less time.
Part of what held me back was that the first few concentrate vaporizers “vape pens” I tried were so bad that I kinda gave up on them only until quite recently.
I’m just loving these triple quartz coils and the purity of the flavor coming through with this device. Although you can burn your material if you aren’t careful, it’s much easier not to with the quartz because you don’t need to be firing them for as long as you would with those “stove top” coils you see in most concentrate vape pens.
Overall, the Pulsar APX Wax is an awesome little vaporizer that is working great with all my hashes, shatter, wax etc. It get’s me quite medicated in no time all while delivering some remarkably pure, fantastic flavor.
Considering the price, the pocketability, ease of use and performance, it’s definitely one I’d recommend checking out.
I have received over a dozen different concentrate vaporizers in the mail in the last year or so by companies wanting me to review their newest device.
I have not written a single review yet because I hadn’t found one worth writing about until now. When I originally received the email from Pulsar, I was really not that enthused but more hopeful just because of how great the APX dry herb was.
As I’m sure you can from the review, not only do I feel this APX Wax deserves a review, it also get’s two very big and very happy thumbs up from me.
There are a few vaporizers out right now that do a good job with concentrates like the Ascent, Firefly 2, AirVape XS and even the Pax 3, but I have yet to encounter anything as portable and as functional as the APX Wax strictly for concentrated material.
Once again, considering the portability, performance and price together with the purity of the flavor coming through, it’s one I recommend to anyone who likes the heavier medicine and wants to get the most out of it with the purest flavor profiles. Check it out for yourself!
