Best Portable Vapes for 2017 Reviewed -The Magic Flight Launch Box

The Magic Flight Launch Box or MFLB has a reputation for being one of the best stealth vaporizers on the market. It certainly is one of the stealthiest, but is it still one of the best for 2017? Let’s take a quick overview before we get into the full review, shall we?

Overview

Pros

  • Very small, compact, pocket sized
  • Ultra stealthy
  • Great tasting vapor when used correctly
  • Fastest heating vaporizer, heats to vaping temperature within 5 seconds
  • Relatively easy to use
  • Extra batteries may be purchased/used for extended time away
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Best vape in it’s price range
  • Still the smallest vape on the market

Cons

  • Slight learning curve to get the best vapor
  • Can burn herbs if overheated
  • Slightly awkward to carry so many pieces when on the go
  • Batteries don’t last very long (roughly 8-12 draws per battery)

The Review

Best Portable Dry Herb/Marijuana Vaporizers for 2017 Reviewed. Magic Flight Launch Box (MFLB) -Full Review

The Magic Flight Launch Box or MFLB as it is known by some is unique in the vaping world. It is by far the smallest vaporizer I have ever used and the only one made almost entirely of wood.

As far as the look and feel of the device are concerned, both are spectacular. It’s hard to believe just how small it is until you have it in your hand. Also because it’s mainly wood, it’s incredibly light as well. On it’s own, you hardly even feel it in your pocket.

When I first saw the MFLB I was pretty skeptical that it would produce very much vapor but I thought it was quite a novel and attractive design and ordered it out of sheer novelty (I am a woodworker in my spare time, so just the fact that it was made of wood was enough for me to want to try it).

When it arrived and I finally had a chance to try it for myself I was amazed at how well it performed. The vapor comes out pure and tasty, albeit a little on the hotter side. It does take a bit of a learning curve to get the hang of it but after that it’s a breeze to use.

Best Portable Marijuana Vaporizer for 2017 Reviewed. Magic Flight Launch Box (MFLB) -Full ReviewI find the best way to use the Launch Box is to press the battery in to the battery hole on the side of the unit (as seen on the right) for about 3-5 seconds, or until you begin to see some vapor forming in the herb trench as you look straight through the draw hole.

Once you see some vapor is forming, take a long slow draw for about 7 or 8 seconds while continuing to hold the battery in, and then release.

I usually continue inhaling for another second or two to capture any additional vapor that has formed. I personally found that holding the battery in any more than about 8 seconds would result in burnt material which is exactly what I am trying to avoid. Once I got the hang of it I found I was able to get good reliable vapor every time I used it.

There is another technique that many users favor called sipping which involves the same process of holding in the battery for about 5 seconds or until you see some vapor through the draw hole, but instead of a long slow draw, users take small “sips” of vapor over about a 10 second period.

I personally didn’t like that method as well because the chances of burning the material are much greater, and it happened to me a few times. You really need to keep an eye on it as you go. To cool it down if it starts to overheat, simply take a slightly longer “sip” or draw. For those who prefer a hotter vapor, this is the preferred method of use.

Magic Flight Launch Box (MFLB) -Full Review shown with grinder attachment The starter kit really contains everything you need including a little carrying bag, wall charger and cleaning kit. The charger also works on regular AA or AAA batteries as well and is one of the few around that will charge one at a time.

You can even order the kit even with a little grinder that fits right over the opening (as seen on the left) so you can grind your herb right on the Launch Box itself and it will be neatly deposited right where you want it: the vaping trench.

I do recommend if you are buying this vaporizer to buy a few extra batteries right away as it won’t be long before you kicking yourself if you don’t. Each battery only last for 8-12 draws so for most that’s only about 2 or 3 good sessions.

The way I look at it, you get about 30 minutes of use roughly per charged battery. If you know you’re like me and you need a good 3-4 hours in the day, you’ll need to carry 6-8 batteries with you. If you’re willing to do that, this vaporizers is great. Certainly the best vape for the price, that’s for sure.

The Verdict

Best Portable Marijuana Vaporizer for 2017 Reviewed. Magic Flight Launch Box (MFLB) -Full ReviewOverall I would recommend this vaporizer to anyone looking for the most discreet vape, who likes good clean vapor a little on the hotter side and who is comfortable carrying a few extra batteries in the car or maybe a purse. As long as you have a few spare batteries with you, the Magic Flight Launch Box can keep you smiling all day long.

The vapor quality and intensity are great and I was surprised how well it vaped through my material so thoroughly. The heat distribution throughout the trench is remarkably even and as long as you don’t hold the battery in too long and burn your material, the vapor is smooth and pure but pretty hard hitting.

For anyone who is serious about vaping, or even for those looking to try a vaporizer for the first time, the Launch Box is a must own. It comes with a lifetime warranty and is about half the price of most other portable vaporizers on the market today. Use the links below to check it out for yourself!

  1. I loved the concept of this vape and it does (when non-defective) work very well, but there certainly is a learning curve. I wouldn’t say this is for the novice vaper. I mention defective because the first one I received was, in fact, defective. MFLB does has a lifetime guarantee and they were slow (trying to troubleshoot a problem with me) but they did get me a new one fairly quickly once they decided it was them, not me. That being said, my second one developed a hole in the screen within a month which is odd because the MFLB doesn’t require much cleaning or any rough treatment to the screen at all. I thought it was a residue forming (which shouldn’t happen either,) but it was a small hole. The problem here is that the screen is not replaceable and it HAS to be in perfect shape (aka no holes) for it to work. At this point I decided not to even bother trying to return it this time and eat the money I shelled out on it. I didn’t want another one. The other cons are the battery life. Not only that, but they tell you the batteries shouldn’t get hot at all or it depletes the charge it will hold. Guess what? EVERY time you charge them, they get SUPER hot. So, I’m not sure what they are talking about. I honestly think I was just too heavy a vape user for this product and I would not recommend it to anyone unless they are looking for something super discreet that they use occasionally, but not something you would use as your main vaporizer. I was super excited about this device and I like the idea, but I would never waste my money on this or any other device that I have to use external rechargeable batteries with.

The plusses? Can’t beat the price point compared to the competition. It heats up almost immediately and if you are already a seasoned vaper you can use this little guy just about anywhere (if your batteries are charged and you have a place to constantly recharge them… or you carry 4+ on you.)

    • Hey June! Thanks for the reply! Sorry to hear about your bad experience! I never encountered those problems myself, but I agree with you on the learning curve aspect and the short battery life. I love this vaporizer but when I am out and about, it isn’t my go to vape. It heats up quick and is super stealthy but I’m not one to carry a pocket full of batteries either. The lifetime warranty is great and so is the price. For me it’s a must own but if it’s your first vaporizer this might not be the best option.

  2. question do you fill the screen with enough herb for 1 draw, or relight the herb again for a second draw?.. sorry for the dumb question.

    Thanks Don.

    • Hey Don!

There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers LOL

Hopefully I won’t give you one of them 🙂

I fill the trench up and I take as many puffs as I can from that one trench. I take several light puffs every time I push the battery in. After a few draws, I’ll shake it up while I’m holding the vapor in and then repeat.

I find shaking helps to avoid combustion on subsequent draws. I guess I get somewhere from 3-5 good lungfuls per filled trench.

      Hope that clears it up!

      Vape on,
      Shawn
