The all new G-Pen Elite by Grenco Science is one of the best new vaporizers I have had the pleasure of testing this year. As I’m sure you can tell from the overview, I’m really impressed with what Grenco Science has done here with this new G Pen Elite!
When I was first approached about reviewing it, seeing “pen” in the name, I didn’t think much of it and was openly skeptical in my reply (my apologies guys).
If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you’ll know I’ve tried dozens of vape pens and they rarely work. Other than the V2 Pro Series 3, I’ve never had a vape pen that did anything other that immediately just burn my herb.
I had actually received a few different vaporizers on the same day, two of which were “pens”. The first one I opened, as usual, burnt my herb the first time I used it which was also the last. When I finally got around to opening the G Pen Elite, I was almost embarrassed by my initial reaction.
The G Pen Elite features a completely ceramic heating chamber which fits between about a quarter to just under a half gram of herb depending on density and how tightly you like to pack it. For myself, I pack it pretty snug while still leaving room for airflow around my weed.
The G Pen is strictly a dry herb vaporizer, which for me is great because I rarely have use concentrates, but if that is something you do a lot of, you might want to choose a different vape.
As far as performance with my dry herb, I must say, it performs easily as well as any of the top vaporizers listed on this site. The only downside for me with the G Pen is that the battery doesn’t last longer between charges. On a full charge I usually get somewhere between an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half of use.
The design of the device itself is fantastic, it’s under five inches in height and is under an inch and a quarter at the thickest point. I really like the way they indented the sides which really adds to the comfort in the hand.
The G Pen also features a fully digital LED display which allows you to choose the exact temperature you prefer as well as showing the current temperature of the oven as the unit heats up. I was amazed at how quickly it heats up also. The manual says it’s under 30 seconds, and I have to say, from my experience, that is pretty accurate, under a minute anyway.
The kit is pretty simple but contains everything you’re going to need including a nice cleaning tool and USB charging cable, however you’ll need a wall adapter if you plan on charging it through a wall outlet. Otherwise you can charge it right on your computer via USB but the wall is faster of course.
As I mentioned earlier, as far as vapor production as well as vapor quality, the G Pen Elite is as good as it gets. It easily rivals any of the top vaporizers out there right now, including the Ascent.
The digital display and accuracy of the heating chamber as well as how thoroughly it vapes through my herb make it a winner in my book and a pleasure to use every time I turn it on.
I am a bit of a purist both with my weed and how I like to vape it and I can say this G Pen Elite satisfies everything I look for in a high quality portable vaporizer.
The mouthpiece is a heavy silicone rubber which would normally turn me off but I actually kinda like it. It really works to keep the heat away from your mouth while the slight angle in the way it’s shaped make it quite comfortable to draw on.
As with most other vapes that use ceramic ovens, the G Pen vapes my weed thoroughly, evenly and gives it a nice even roast. With a full oven I usually get a fully 7-8 minutes of good quality vapor. The device has a 5 minute automatic shut-off timer so I just re-start it and raise the temperature a few degrees for the last 2 or 3 minutes.
I usually end my sessions at about the same temperature I do with my Ascent, so I know the displayed temperature is pretty accurate. I never really need to go over 400-410 although you can go as high as 428 degrees Fahrenheit.
All around, there really isn’t much for me to complain about with this one. Other than being a little nit-picky about the length of use on a full charge (which is almost as good as the Mighty and slightly better than the Air), this is one of the best vaporizers out there right now and certainly the best new vaporizer on the market this year.
Again, if you do vape a lot of concentrates, this wouldn’t be the vape to get. For those who are like me though and vape mainly dry herb, it’s a fantastic choice which I would absolutely recommend, even to purists like myself.
For a closer look, feel free to check out the user video I uploaded to YouTube about it as well.
I’m pretty sure it’s pretty obvious by the “gushy” review that I really like this vaporizer. It combines all the elements I find essential in a portable vape in a very attractive, stealthy and ergonomic design.
The size is fantastic for life on the go, and can almost be forgotten about in a pocket. For myself, I’m out most of the time, so I do find the battery life a little on the low side for my full time needs but I’ve gotten accustomed now to carrying a couple with me anyway so this G Pen Elite is now my new back-up when I’m on the road.
I love having it with me and it’s nice and discreet to use if I happen to have to stand around outside waiting for someone. I always carry an electronic cigarette with me as cover anyway just in case I get eyes that seem a little too curious, I’ll just take it out and start puffing on that until they suddenly remember to mind there own business and move on.
Even though I am a medicinal user, I wouldn’t want a prospective client to come around the corner and see me using Marijuana particularly if it was the first time we are meeting.
The G Pen is really great for discreet use on the go. As I mentioned earlier, if you want the ability to vape concentrates, this wouldn’t be the best option. For dry herb however, this is on par with any of the top vaporizers on the market today.
For those who love their weed as much as I do, it’s definitely one to take a closer look at.
