Best Portable Vaporizers for 2017 Reviewed -V2 Pro Series 3

The V2 Pro Series 3 personal vaporizer has been much anticipated and I can now say with certainty that it was well worth the wait. I can’t wait to try the series 5 and 7, which are both soon to be released, so stay tuned.

The Series 3 is surprisingly good. It produces smooth, great tasting vapor with dried herb which is quite rare in a pen style unit. It’s not at the top of my list, but for the money, I must say it’s a great little vape.

Once again, let’s take a moment for brief overview before we get into the review itself.

Overview

Pros

  • Ultra small and compact
  • Very discreet and stealthy, looks like an electronic cigarette
  • Vapes dried herb evenly and thoroughly
  • Can be used with e-liquid
  • Components clip together magnetically
  • Can be used while charging
  • Charger connects to regular USB (adaptor available for car lighter)
  • One of the best vapes in it’s price range
  • Doesn’t burn herb like most vape pens

Cons

  • Features only one temperature setting
  • The heating chamber holds a very small amount of herb (about .1 of a gram)
  • Ring around the mouthpiece gets quite hot after extended use
  • Battery only lasts about 30-45 minutes per charge

The Review

Best Portable Dry Herb Vaporizers for 2017 Reviewed! -V2 Pro Series 3 Review V2 Cigs have been around for years. They were one of the original electronic cigarette manufacturers and are known around the world as makers of fine “cigalike” style electronic cigarettes.

I used V2 Cigs over 5 years ago to quit smoking so I have always had a fondness for them and always got updates from them in my inbox, even long after I stopped having any real need for the e-cigs anymore.

When I first heard that they were getting ready to introduce a loose leaf vaporizer, I was amazed, curious, skeptical and I was dying to try it for myself.

The Pro Series 3 is by far the most traditional looking V2 product of the three in that it most closely resembles an electronic cigarette which is a huge plus for stealth vaping. People just assume that’s what it is and with more and more people using e-cigs, it hardly gets any attention at all.

It is remarkably easy to use, there is one cartridge for e-liquids, and one for dried herb. For the dried bud, just drop in about a small amount (around a .1 of a gram) into the chamber, pop on the mouthpiece and vape away. I do find I usually need a few “primer puffs” to get the heat around the herb, but once it’s going it works very well.

Best Portable Dry Herb Vaporizers for 2017 Reviewed! -V2 Pro Series 3 ReviewThe chamber is relatively small but I find I get about 6 or 7 pretty good draws per bowl. The nice thing about the V2 Pro is that it won’t burn your herb.

Even if I leave some spent herb in the chamber a little too long, it still isn’t burnt. Surprising in a vape pen, most either burn it almost instantly or fail to get hot enough for a proper vape.

The V2 Pro features a two minute automatic shut off which I find kind of annoying because I have to turn it back on 4 or 5 times in an average session.

Not a huge deal, it goes back on with a push of the button but if you’re not paying attention, you’ll have to wait for the chamber to heat back up before continuing.

I mentioned earlier how surprised I am by V2 Cigs or any vape pen making my list as for the most part, I find them quite sub-par. That really isn’t the case here though and if price is a big concern, this vaporizer won’t disappoint.

If you are someone who uses electronic cigarettes and would like to be able to find a vaporizer that can do both, the V2 Pro Series 3 can and does vape both your dried herb and your e-liquid with remarkable style. You can easily switch back and forth between the two.

I really like the design, the fact that it just looks like a regular e-cig is great for parties of the office. I also like the fact that you can charge it while you use it using the pass through system, the charger just clicks magnetically into the bottom using a pretty strong rare earth magnet.

It’s ultra convenient, reasonably priced and a well made vaporizer that will please most vapers. It’s available in your choice of three colors, and is ready to go right out of the box.

The Verdict

Best Portable Dry Herb Vaporizers for 2017 Reviewed! -V2 Pro Series 3 ReviewThe V2 Pro Series 3 is one of the best vape pens I have tried in terms of vaping dried herb. The chamber is quite small which is a drawback for me but not a huge deal. It works well enough and produces pure and potent vapor considering it’s size.

I really like the discreteness of having a vape that looks like a e-cig for those more public occasions, but it only lasts for about 30 minutes per charge so for a full day away it just not long enough for me.

On the plus side for the V2 Pro is that you can charge it while you’re using it and because it uses a regular USB connection you can get an adaptor for your car lighter and be pretty much vaping anywhere you go.

I like it enough to include it on this list because it works and I know there are some people who really prefer the pen style over others. It isn’t my favorite overall but for those shopping for something that works but won’t break you bank, this is definitely one to consider.

Check out the Video below for a little review and unboxing of the V2 Pro Series 3 from V2 Cigs themselves or try it for yourself and you’ll see why I list it here among the best personal vaporizers for 2017.

  1. I used it with sweet herbs yesterday and found it underwhelming. How important is to crumble it into really fine powder? Or did I just not stuff it enough inside?

That does not seem logical though ’cause it’s not like I’ve got only few strong puffs and it was over – the most I could manage at all was a light mist ?

    • Hey Pankevely,

I understand what you mean. The heating chamber is a little on the small side so it’s not like you are going to get really big tokes. You do need to make sure your herb is pretty finely ground though and packed in well but not so tight as to restrict airflow.

It works well, but remember, it’s vapor so you aren’t going to see the clouds you would with smoke. If you are getting flavor when you toke, it’s working. Sometimes you’ll see some vapor on the exhale, sometimes you won’t (or very little). It’s not like vaping e-liquid either. E-liquid is designed to produce clouds of vapor to appease smokers who are trying to quit. Vaping herb is very different.

I remember when I first started vaping my herb, I used to fill bags using my old Mystifier and in a whole bag of vapor I could still almost see through the bag. When I would inhale it I wouldn’t really ever exhale any vapor but the taste was strong and the effect was better than smoking ever could be.

It does take a bit to get used to the difference. Anyhow, hope that helps! Glad you tried the V2, it’s one of the only pen vapes around that actually works and doesn’t burn the material. Vape on!

  2. About how many hits does one expect to get off a full chamber of dry herb? I’m pretty new to this game so I wouldn’t want anything to go to waste.

  3. Thanks for the awesome review! My V2 Pro should arrive in my mailbox any day.

One question: How dry should my herb be? I like top-shelf herb, which is usually pretty gooey. Should I let it dry out a little first? Thanks for the advice!

    • Hey Nick!

Awesome, congrats on the purchase! If it’s super sticky, you may want to dry it slightly. I do find some moisture is good but if it’s too much, it can be a hassle to clean.

Hard to tell for sure without being there but you’ll know after your first bowl anyway. I find all strains vape a little different and it’s kind of a feel thing.

Anyhow, enjoy your new V2 Pro and vape on!

    • Hey Sam,

No, it would’t vape dry herb in the e-liquid clearomizer. I wouldn’t really do anything except burn the wicking material.

  4. Thank you for the lovely review :). I have one of these and I bought a dry leaf cartridge as well but am without any herbs at the moment. I came across a link I’d saved of vapers to use for the green stuff and they were all very expensive. It made me wonder whether my tiny little pen would be any good and I found your review. It was very helpful, thank you for taking the time to write it :). I look forward to trying it out myself at some stage :).
